Künstler und Kulturschaffende der Republik Moldau schlugen ihre Zelte auf – Theater, Lesungen und Performances in ihrem Gepäck. Für ein paar Tage verwandelten sie die Spielstätten in einen Indoor-Campingplatz: Grüner Rasen bot die Spielwiese für Inszenierungen, aus den Nasszellen wurden Diskurs Duschen und der obligatorische Automatenshop versorgte die Besucher mit moldauischen Gaumenfreuden und anderen Überraschungen.
„Camping“ als Metapher für die Kunst der Improvisation, für Mobilität und Kommunikationsfreude. Träume wurden wahr mit einfachen Mitteln – auch der moldauische Traum von einem ungeteilten, funktionierenden europäischen Staat?
Künstlerische Bestandsaufnahmen und Visionen versuchten sich an Antworten auf Fragen wie: Was ist aus dem einstigen Obst- und Gemüsegarten der UDSSR geworden? Und wo liegt überhaupt die Region Transnistrien, die sich von der Republik Moldau abgespalten hat, jedoch international nicht als souveräner Staat anerkannt wird?

Diskurs Dusche
Zwei Mal pro Abend hatten die Besucher die Möglichkeit, eine Diskurs Dusche in Form kurzer Vorträge zu nehmen: Kulturpolitische Zusammenhänge, politische Fakten und künstlerische Projekte wurden von Künstlern, Kuratoren, Intellektuellen und Politikern aus der Republik Moldau vorgestellt.

Die international gefeierte Dramatikerin
Nicoleta Esinencu ist in ihrer Heimat aufgrund ihrer politisch brisanten Texte umstritten. Tabulos beschreibt sie den Umgang Moldaus mit seiner kommunistischen Vergangenheit und seiner Suche nach einer neuen Positionierung zwischen Russland und der Europäischen Union. In ihrem neuen Stück „√.md“, gespielt von moldauischen Schauspielern, nimmt sie erneut den Alltag in ihrem Land unter die Lupe – schonungslos, nüchtern und präzise: „Es geht um die ethnischen Minderheiten in der Republik Moldau und darum, dass es eigentlich gar keine Bevölkerungsmehrheit gibt – denn auch die Mehrheit ist eine Minderheit: Moldau ist ein einziger ethnischer Flickenteppich, Gewalt, Diskriminierung und Hass. Gibt es noch was Anderes?“

Grüße aus Transnistrien – inszenierte Lesung
Kaum jemand kennt Transnistrien, das sich Anfang der 90er von der Republik Moldau abgespalten hat. Das Land, nahezu diktatorisch regiert, ist eine Miniaturausgabe der Sowjetunion und wird international nicht anerkannt. Den transnistrischen Rubel wechselt keine Bank der Welt. Die deutsche Autorin Tanja Dückers und die moldauische Dramatikerin
Nicoleta Esinencu waren im April 2008 gemeinsam vor Ort und schrieben uns Postkarten aus einem Land, das es nicht gibt.

Tent Event: Der Künstler Pavel Brăila lädt ins Zelt – Performances
Der ebenfalls über seine Landesgrenzen hinaus bekannte Videokünstler Pavel Brăila konzipierte für „Moldova Camping“ eine Performance zu tragikkomischen Alltagsbegebenheiten in der Republik Moldau. Der documenta-Künstler Pavel Brăila versteht es, mit seinen Arbeiten auf eine sehr poetische Weise über sein Land zu erzählen, gerade auch über dessen Brüche, sukzessiven Veränderungen und Untiefen.

5. Versuch zur Erstellung einer transnistrischen Teilrealität – Performance
Seit sechs Jahren erkunden der Autor und Fotograf Kramar und der Autor Marcell Nimführ Transnistrien. Gemeinsam mit dem transnistrischen Dolmetscher, Radiomoderator und Uni-Lektor Andrey Smolensky sind sie das Kollektiv Fischka. Für „Moldova Camping“ entwickelten sie eine integrative, multimediale, propagandistische, sowjetophile, weltoffene, einnehmende und vereinnahmende Performance. Die agitatorischen Themen des Abends:
* Das erste inoffizielle transnistrische Unabhängigkeitsreferendum
* Der transnistrische Botschafter der Herzen, Andrey Smolensky, singt ein Lied
* Liveschaltung nach Tiraspol zum Präsidenten Transnistriens
* Die Vorstellung des Drinks, der Berlin erobern wird: Wodka Dawai

Automatenshop "Moldova Automat"
Ein Automatenshop darf auf keinem Campingplatz fehlen. Automaten sind die anonymste Form des Vertriebs und eignen sich lediglich für standardisierte Waren. Der für „Moldova Camping“ eigens entwickelte Automatenshop bot Produkte aus Moldau zum Mitnehmen, Verschenken, Erzählen oder Angeben. Bei Geldeinwurf erzählte der Automatenshop Anekdoten zum Produkt und den Menschen dahinter, wies auf die Besonderheit des Artikels, seinen kulturellen Hintergrund und die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung hin oder stimmte ein Trinklied an.

filmische Perspektiven aus der Republik Moldau
Im Rahmen von „Moldova Camping“ präsentierte das Berliner Festival
balkan black box – Film, Kunst und Kultur aus Südosteuropa, eine Auswahl differenter Perspektiven der jungen Generation Filmschaffender aus der Republik Moldau.
Der Dokumentarist
George Agadjanean begleitete den jungen Sasha ein Jahr lang mit der Kamera und wird seinen Film „San Sanych/San Sanyh“ am 17. Juni dem Publikum präsentieren. An beiden Tagen lädt eine Videolounge zur Kurzfilmreihe „MOLD_GOLIA“, kuratiert von Stefan Rusu sowie zu weiteren Kurzfilmen von Octav Esinencu, Ghenadie Popescu, Igor Cobileanski und Ana-Felicia Scutelnicu ein. Der Filmproduzent und Organisator des Cronograf Filmfestivals aus Chişinău, Dumitru Marian, stellt sich am 17. Juni um 20:45 unter die Diskurs Dusche.

Moldova Camping
Art and Culture from Moldova at the Hebbel am Ufer/HAU Theatre in Berlin
Moldova Camping invited artists and theatre people from Chişinău to set up their tents around the HAU-theatre. They provided insights into Moldavian daily life as well as the Moldavian art- and cultural scene. They confronted our nescience and, eventually, our prejudices.
The goal of the project was a – both artistically exiting and playfully-sensual – narration about Moldova, a transfer of knowledge, as well as to awaken curiosity about this unknown neighbour of the European Union.
Camping represents the art of improvisation, mobility, enjoyment of communication. Dreams become reality through simple means. The artists of Moldova did not represent their country on a big stage but instead seek direct contact with the audience in order to talk about their country in a convivial camping atmosphere as well as to get into contact with the public.

Discourse Shower
Twice a day, the audience took a discourse shower in the form of short talks, followed by discussions: information, political facts as well as personal statements by artists, authors, curators and intellectuals from Moldova who described how critical cultural work can be done in and despite a political and cultural outsider-position.
√.md
The Moldovan dramaturge and scriptwriter Nicoleta Esinencu, recipient of the Rumanian theatre award DramAcum, has been invited to write a dramatic text for Moldova Camping, which deals with phenomena and daily life in Moldova. The international well-known writer is disputed in Moldova due to her politically explosive texts, in which she describes her antiseptic views about her country’s dealing with its communist past, its search for a new identity as well as its exclusion from the EU, now expanded up to Moldova’s doorstep.
Greetings from Transnistria
Transnistria, also known as “Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic”, separated from Moldova and developed an authoritarian regime with dictatorial character under its president Igor Smirnow, who has been in power since 1991. Transnistria is known as a miniature edition as well as the “museum of the Soviet Union” and reloading point for the smuggling of arms, drugs and cars. We did send the German writer Tanja Dückers into the capitals Tiraspol and Chişinău as well as into the Transnistrian province, in order to experience the Moldovan country, people and culture with the eyes of the German public. She was accompanied by Nicoleta Esinencu, for whom Transnistria is also a foreign region, even if her country is just next door. Two different foreign points-of-view met here and reached us in form of postcards which have been read by the well-known German actress Nina Kronjäger and Astrid Meyerfeldt.
Tent Event: The Artist Pavel Braila invites into his Tent
The internationally known video artist Pavel Braila (Chişinău/Berlin) developed a performance for Moldova Camping. The Documenta-artist has been presenting his video works and performances at various international art exhibitions and film festivals since the mid-nineties.
Moldova Automat
Automats are the most anonymous form of distribution and are only adaptable for standardized goods. The Moldova Automat, exclusively developed for Moldova Camping, offered very special products in a very special way: products from Moldova to take-away, to give-away, to tell about and to show-off with.
When money inserted, the Moldova Automat quite casually recounted anecdotes about the specific product and the people behind it, it pointed out characteristics of the product, its cultural background and its economic importance, and sometimes started a drinking song. The products were supposed to become an artefact and souvenir character as well as to become the link for narrations in the sense of a “poetry of objects“: at what, how, with what and what for do the people work in Moldova.
